Ischia is folklore and festivals too: traditional dances, lights and fireworks colour every corner of the island, creating moments of fun and meeting.
The ‘NDREZZATA is a traditional song and dance of Ischia with swords and sticks. The legend tells that the ‘Ndrezzata was the dance among the Nymphs on the song of gold cithara of Apollo.
THE PALIO OF SAINT ANNE – 26th JULY
This festival is a fixed summer appointment for tourists from every part of the world: every town of the island build its own boat, that is embellished in order to win the Palio dedicated to Saint Anne. After the parade of the allegorical boats, a fire is simulated on the Aragonese Castle and after that there is a magnificent fireworks’ show.
PARADE OF SAINT ALEXANDER – 26th AUGUST
This is a particular parade with beautiful traditional dresses, telling the history of the Island from the Greek dominion until the unification of Italy. It is possible to see all the fashion influences of the different conquerors who lived the Island.
